Private tutor in Portland, OR
Education
ABJ/Journalism, English, Spanish University of Georgia, 2009
Experience
I have tutored elementary, middle, and high school Spanish and taught Montessori primary school for over a year. Teaching is a joy for me. Recently, I have worked in private classrooms. As a journalist in Chattanooga, I led a high school group of writers and photographers as they learned to hone their skills as reporters. Spanish: I travelled and lived in Latin America and love tutoring beginner and intermediate speakers. English: As a former journalist and current creative writer, literature is a constant passion. I just finished a summer workshop at Naropa University for Poetics and Music.

Hobbies
Virginia is my home. The Blue Ridge Mountains are where I spent the first few barefoot years of my life. I played soccer, ran track, and spent time in theater throughout my youth before heading down to the University of Georgia. Portland has been my home for almost three years. I moved to the city after working in film to take a job at a CSA on Sauvie Island. After that, I began teaching Montessori school and taking graduate classes at Portland State. I love to rock climb, backpack, and explore the Northwestern Willy Wonka-esque rain forests. I am interested in honing in on the individual qualities that make each person unique, and finding ways to embrace and develop those qualities so that we can all benefit from a more functional and fulfilled society. I am happy to meet you and discuss your child's tutoring needs!
