Experience

I have three years of tutoring experience both with small groups and individuals ranging from middle school students through college students. I have worked with a wide variety of students including underprivileged students via the AVID program as well as students with trouble focusing or hyperactive disorders. I like tutoring because I enjoy the feeling I get when I see a student begin to understand new concepts they once found difficult. I take pride in my role as a tutor and understand the patience it requires to help students through difficult material. I have taken and excelled in a wide range of courses which has given me a breadth of knowledge in the sciences. More specifically, I completed my B.S. in Biology with an emphasis on Ecology and Evolution with lots of additional experience in Molecular Bio, Cell Bio, Plant and Animal Physiology and Mycology. I have also completed a full year of General Chemistry with labs, and a full year of Organic Chemistry. Additionally, I have completed a full year of Physics at the college level and also received a minor degree in History.

Hobbies

I have a great passion for nature, sports, and music. I have played the bass for almost ten years now and play with a couple different groups around town. I was the captain of my high school varsity basketball team in 2008 and have competed in several national tournaments. In my free time I enjoy hiking and traveling and nearly every summer go on a two-week backpacking tip with my father somewhere in the Northwest. I also thoroughly enjoy teaching and will be applying to graduate programs this winter to pursue my dream of being a high school biology teacher and basketball coach.
