Experience
I am an alumnus of Willamette University, and I am currently a graduate student at Portland State University, where I am working toward a master's degree in mathematics. I have worked as a math tutor for more than four years. During my years in school, I have built up both the knowledge and experience to teach others about the problem-solving tools and concepts of mathematics. My tutoring style is built upon three facets: persistence, patience, and seeing the big picture. Persistence on both the tutor and the student's part is needed when the student does not understand a topic, so it's a very important tool. Patience is also important, as no two students learn at the same pace. Finally, being able to see the big picture is incredibly important, as it allows students to understand how we use math in the real world.I am capable of tutoring a number of different math courses, including pre-algebra, all levels of algebra, pre-calculus, all levels of calculus, geometry, trigonometry, multivariable calculus, finite mathematics, and AP Calculus AB. I can also tutor students in physics, microeconomics, macroeconomics, and business. When I'm not studying, I enjoy playing chess and Go, and I also enjoy exercising.
