Experience
I'm a graduate of Portland State University, who is currently employed at a pre-K through eighth-grade school in northeast Portland, Oregon. At the beginning of my tenure, I taught fifth graders. I also taught first grade, and then I moved on to a behavior coach role. I'm still a behavior coach today, and I involve other faculty members, students, and families in fostering a sense of community. Together, we work to nurture a favorable and optimistic learning environment within the school. Although I'm not currently teaching, I leverage every opportunity available to me to connect with students. I frequently substitute teach, which I enjoy doing immensely. I'm adept at teaching geometry, reading, writing, grammar and mechanics, pre-algebra, and English. Having years of experience with teaching K-5 has fueled my drive to help students see concepts more clearly. The greatest measure of my success as a teacher is seeing the expressions on their faces when they've arrived at a solution or absorbed the material. Outside of academics, I enjoy watching sports, reading, cooking, and traveling.
