Experience
If you are looking for a tutor in cartooning and comics, visual arts, or writing, please contact me. I graduated from an MFA program which focused on creating comic books and graphic novels and all related skills--from creative writing to graphic design to film studies. I have a broad academic background in visual arts, especially drawing and painting. My media include pencil, pen and ink, ink wash, scratch-board, oil, acrylic, gouache, watercolor, oil pastel, and Adobe Photoshop. I am also a writer not only of comics, but also of prose fiction and nonfiction narratives and essays. My best work often features wild animals or mythic monsters. I have produced various professionally published or self-published comics and stories, including parts of a forthcoming Junior Ranger book for the National Park Service. I have worked for the NPS as a seasonal resource education ranger, at parks including Yellowstone, Crater Lake, and Carlsbad Caverns. I prepared and delivered talks, hikes, boat tours, evening programs, and curriculum-based programs for school groups; on a broad range of natural science and cultural history topics (including field drawing and painting.) I am happy to tutor students of all ages!

Hobbies
I became enamored with comics as a youngster thanks to Spider-Man and the rest of the Marvel pantheon. I have since broadened my comics interest to just about everything, from zines to manga. My other pursuits include hiking, biking, martial arts, and volunteering in forest restoration projects. Samples of my creative work can be found at rosswoodstudlar.blogspot.com.
