Experience

I have over 5 years experience helping students learn to excel in difficult classes with confidence and ease. 100% of my college essay students have earned admission into their top-choice schools. I'm the founder of Introtohonors.com, where students learn how achieve honors, build a profitable resume in college, and achieve their biggest academic and social goals. I've worked as a dissertation and creative thesis tutor for graduate students in diverse subjects such as Education, Psychology, and Literature. My creative work has been published in Brick Magazine and performed at the Appeldorn festival in the Netherlands, and at Yerba Buena Arts Center in San Francisco. As an undergraduate at UC Berkeley I enrolled in graduate coursework, and co-founded and directed 3 art galleries in Berkeley and San Francisco. I was also the programs director for the Marina Abramovic Institute in San Francisco. My coursework has been focused in several areas: Literature and Writing, Psychology, Sociology, Persuasion, Copywriting, Marketing and Advertising, Journalism, Anthropology, and Neuroscience. When students learn how to be successful academically opportunities bloom like crazy. Achievements have a tendency to snowball, and one smaller success, like confidently overcoming difficulty in a class, can lead to an incredible sense of self-accomplishment that spreads to other areas of one's life. My goal as a tutor is to not only improve your grades, but to teach you study skills and writing methods that are able to be replicated, to ensure your future successes, one after the other. If you gain confidence in your abilities, there's no limit to what you can be.

Hobbies

Confession, I'm a total nerd! (Maybe you already guessed that!) And yes, I consider myself to be an educational mastermind. But I'm also socially adept (honest!). Study hacks and formulas you can replicate are my go-to strategies for teaching students how to conquer tough material. Because once you know what to do with your coursework, you can earn A's in any class. My secret (or not so secret) goal is to help my students learn the tools for high-level success, so that each student can achieve HUGE goals, and change the world. Ok, the secret part is that I think of my students as a brigade of super heroes, learning how to unlock their superpowers to make whatever it is they end up doing effectual and important. Yoga keeps me centered (and stretched!) and I can tell you every ingredient down to the last spice that was in my home-cooked dinner last night. I believe enthusiasm is infectious and I strive to connect with my students over whatever work we're doing to show them why it's meaningful, awesome, and fun (even if it's just writing a research paper!). No one likes to feel like they're just taking a class or writing a paper because they "have to." I like to turn assignments into something more than just requirements. Or else, I show my students how to knock out an A level assignment quickly, so they can move on to more fun things, like shooting rubber band guns.
