Education
Freshman Education major at the University of Portland
Experience
I want to be a tutor because I've always loved the great experiences and lessons that come along with helping others, especially younger people who look up to me. I'm attending school as an education major, focusing on elementary/middle education (specifically grades 3-8) with endorsements in English literature and special education. In high school, I completed AP Psychology and received a 4 on the test, and my ACT score during my Junior year of high school was 29 out of the 32 points possible. I have tutoring experience as a member of my former high school's National Honor Society, and I have teaching experience as a Vacation Bible School classroom leader. At the University of Portland, I have completed Intro to Education with an A- in the class and I'm currently taking Human Development, which is part of the School of Education's core requirements. Through these classes, I'm also required to spend 36 hours in an assigned classroom throughout the Portland area. I spent my first semester in a 1st grade classroom and I'm currently observing in a 7th grade English/Social studies classroom.
