Experience
I earned my masters in Latin American Studies at the University of Arizona and my bachelor's in Spanish at the University of Delaware. While enrolled in my Spanish courses, I learned advanced and professional Spanish skills. I tutored fellow students in our courses and prepared them for tests. Before moving to Portland, I lived in Ecuador for over four years. While there, I taught and tutored students in English and Spanish. I also prepared them for the Test of English as a Foreign Language, or TOEFL. As a tutor, I aim to be both easy going and challenging. I encourage my students to immerse themselves in the material through engaging and interactive materials. I can teach test-taking strategies, as well as help a student improve their essay writing skills in Spanish. I believe that one-on-one learning is invaluable to learning a language. When I'm not tutoring, I am working on writing a book for those seeking to learn Spanish. I use similar tutoring methods to pass on valuable strategies and tricks to improving one's fluency in the language. In addition, I love to travel around the world to explore new cultures. I play poker, guitar, and basketball in my free time.
