Experience
For the last few years, I've been teaching outdoor education. This opportunity has given me the privilege of learning how to come up with unique and creative learning activities that keep my students engaged and excited, while studying in the Pacific Northwest. One of the reasons why I enjoy tutoring is because I can use the skills from working as an outdoor educator and apply them to my one-on-one lessons. I feel that students benefit the most from a diverse learning experience that takes a creative approach to solving problems. Instead of sitting at their desks and listening to a teacher lecture, they need to move around and actively apply their knowledge in a practical setting. Some of my favorite subjects to tutor are critical reading, essay writing, and English. I also teach social sciences, journalism, and standardized test prep. I'm committed to helping my students succeed, which I'm able to do by building relationships with my pupils so that I better understand their strengths and weaknesses so that I can plan my lessons accordingly. When I'm not working in education, I like to spend my time outdoors backpacking and hiking. I also enjoy creative writing and improving my guitar skills.
