Experience
I am currently in my second year at the University of Portland majoring in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. I am a tutor in math for individuals in grades 1st through 12th. The math subjects I tutor are Algebra 1 and 2, the ACT math section, AP Calculus AB, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1, and Trigonometry. I have also been able to successfully tutor individuals in other subjects. However, math is the only subject I choose to tutor because I am able to thoroughly understand math, and I really enjoy it. Some math professors and teachers are not able to describe math in simple terms and methods, which leaves the individual frustrated in not being able to grasp the concepts. I know that not every individual enjoys the same passion I do for math. I am just excited when, time and time again, I have been able to help students of all levels in libraries and study halls grasp the concepts of math and how to solve the problems. I believe that a key ingredient in math is the comprehension of the concepts. Once that is achieved, solving the problems is relatively easy. I am able to patiently show the individuals step by step how to solve a problem. Because of this, students really enjoy coming to me for math instruction. When I have free time, I enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, and video games. I also like reading.
