Experience

I recently left the Department of State after 22 years as a Foreign Service Officer, during which I conducted diplomacy in Korean, French, Spanish, Japanese and Dutch. Prior to joining the Foreign Service, I taught ESL and Spanish in the Tacoma Public Schools and also coordinated the bilingual program for refugees from Southeast Asia. I previously directed a training program for navy recruits in Iran, taught individual and group English classes in Japan, and taught English in Korea as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I am good at adapting to a variety of learning styles and tailoring instruction to fit the individual strengths of each student. I have a natural aptitude for learning and teaching. I am patient and thorough.
