Before attending Reed College in 2008, I spent 13 years living in Taipei, Taiwan. I can speak, read, and write Mandarin with native fluency. I graduated from Reed College in 2013 and have been working on behalf of the Bureau of Transportation teaching a bike safety program at +40 Portland Public Schools ever since. I develop and implement curriculum that empowers 4th/5th grade students with knowledge of bike handling skills, traffic laws, and rules of the road. I also work as a bike camp instructor for the Community Cycling Center. My education experience include: -Teaching assistant for two classes at Columbia University's High School Program: 'Leadership in Law' and 'Urban Case Study of NYC'. I gained experience giving lectures, tutoring students, grading papers, guiding discussion groups, and supervising research projects. -Biology Outreach Teacher at Reed College: I taught weekly science lessons at Portland elementary schools using interactive class games and hands on science experiments. -Research assistant for an early American history professor at Reed. -Program Coordinator for Reed College's Multicultural Affairs: I gained experience helping incoming students from underrepresented communities with their transition to Reed College by coordinating discussions and workshops.

I love reading childrens books and am always dreaming up my own childrens books to write. I love dogs, particularly pugs. I love cooking with friends. I love hanging out with kids. I hope to do a bike tour around Japan during cherry blossom season someday. I am presently saving up money to do a bike tour around Taiwan. I am curious. I am very active. I love learning through conversations with different people.
