Experience
I have served IB World Schools by teaching DP English A Literature for five years, DP Theatre Arts for three years and English A Language and Literature for nearly a year. I have served a National Chinese private school affiliated with Nanjing Normal University by teaching IBDP English B, Higher Level, for two years and a Mandarin-English bilingual approach to TOK for over a year. Appointed in 2009, I have served IBO as an English A, Literature Examiner for Extended Essays and Paper 1. At my recent post, I taught IGCSE World Literature, years 10 and 11. Altogether, so far, I have taught internationally for seven years. I have also taught university freshman composition courses, initiated a creative writing program for "young authors" and taught for seven years with the Oregon Writing Festival, Portland State University. I enjoy helping students find their "sparks" and creativity. I am skilled at helping students integrate their creative with critical thinking as they write commentary. personal responses, various forms of essays and creative work. I enjoy seeing students realize their greater potentials. For example realizing an effective written work and understanding why and how other writers' creative works are effective.
