San Francisco State University - BA, Radio & Television , San Francisco State University - Foundation Level Mathematics, Secondary Education Teaching Credential
I earned my teaching credentials in mathematics from San Francisco State University, and I previously obtained a bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University in Radio and Television with a focus in audio production and recording. I worked for many years in radio, but I decided to return to school for my mathematics credentials. I taught for six years in San Francisco with students of all ages. I also have experience in a wide variety of educational settings, including traditional school classrooms, summer school, night classes, and tutoring of individual students.Encouraging students' confidence in math and all aspects of their lives is a large part of my teaching philosophy. I find that working with the whole student, building confidence, and changing the negativity about the subject of math are just as important as learning math skills. My focus in math tutoring includes pre-algebra, algebra one and two, geometry, elementary math, and middle school math.In my free time, I keep active by playing tennis. I can also be found enjoying a good book, traveling, listening to live music, or often, all three at the same time.
