Education

Syracuse University, BFA, Advertising Design, 2009. Educational Center for the Arts, New Haven CT, Theater Program, Diploma, 2005.

Experience

I have mentored and tutored youth through the Youth Villages of Memphis. This involved developing the knowledge and skills for youth to successfully pass the GED. As part of my Bachelor's track, I passed all required courses in Writing, Linear Algebra, Physics, World Geography, and American and World History. I also took electives in Philosophy, Ancient Philosophy, and Psychology. I feel comfortable in all of these subjects.

Hobbies

In school I followed a career track in the arts. Since then I have found my strengths to be in management, working directly with people and problem solving. Outside of career goals my passions are in learning and making things. Reading has been important to me since about second grade. I believe reading is valuable to a child because it offers a healthy habit to take through life, a way to engage the imagination, and ultimately contributes to the child’s self-esteem. Instilling the love of reading is easy; it involves finding a subject the child finds fascinating (and every child finds some subject fascinating), and having meaningful conversations about that subject. I’ve turned kids on to Greek and Roman history, the Civil War, Dinosaurs, and Ancient Mesoamerica. I'm great with kids. Having three brothers and a sister, and being a part of the Youth Villages Mentorship program in Memphis (and babysitting for many years!) has provided me with an understanding of kids and their needs. Being a tutor is gratifying; it combines, (1) being a responsible role model, (2) making progress with a student in an area of study, and (3) getting to know someone on a more personal level. Tutoring is part of my passion!
