ENGLISH I've always excelled in English, and took AP English Literature & Composition in high school. I have experience tutoring in English and helping students understand proper sentence structure, composition of essays, and how to form a thesis. With my background in philosophy and psychology, I also have an edge in helping students explore essay prompts in deeper and more meaningful ways, and in thinking critically. An amazing essay is profound, emotionally honest, structured correctly, and has excellent grammar. I have worked in positions that required writing finesse, including a Marketing Assistant position for the Builders Association of Northern Nevada. I'm currently a Research Assistant for a business consultant, and much of my job includes writing and editing articles for the company blog (http://www.matthewkoren.com/blog/). I am also a member of People's Ink, a local Portland writing group. We share and critique each other's work, which spans short stories to nonfiction articles.

Hobbies
I love reading, writing, science, philosophy, meditation, yoga, martial arts, and just about anything outdoors (e.g., hiking, camping, exploring). I've always been interested in investigating the deeper questions of life. I consider myself a spiritual person, and would like to one day teach spiritual and psychological principles to help people lead more fulfilling lives. Tutoring is naturally preparing me for my calling as an instructor and guide.
