Experience
I have always been an eager learner and have substantial experience in instructional capacities -- as a camp counselor, a middle school basketball coach, and a English teacher in China. That familiarity as an instructor coupled with my enthusiasm for learning would translate fully into my tutoring a range of subjects. In addition to having acquired a degree in philosophy, I have collegiate experience studying English, Sociology, Religious Studies, and Political Science. I am able to productively approach a range of humanities-based subjects. I am currently taking creative writing and philosophy courses here in Portland to further my knowledge of these disciplines I have become interested in tutoring because I think that it is important to help students uncover a personal investment in learning. Given my academic pedigree and sincere appreciation of learning, I think that I could successfully work to help students eagerly achieve their academic goals. Hobbies
In my free time, I enjoy reading and playing basketball, hiking and traveling, discovering new restaurants and hearing live music. In the upcoming years, it is my intention to travel and teach English is southeastern Asia. I have previously traveled in that part of the world and look forward to returning there.
