Experience
As a tutor, I try to present information clearly and concisely so it can be applied by my students after the fact. Beyond that, I try to make my tutoring sessions as individualized as possible, as every student is different, and each student has a different learning style.I prefer to teach English over other topics, as I find it rewarding when someone who wasn't previously able to communicate in English learns to do so. In fact, I worked with Korean students for more than 2,000 hours in 2014 on the English language. That experience validated my love of teaching, and showed me the importance of working towards a goal to achieve success, which is very rewarding to me. Beyond English, I also tutor essay writing, SAT prep, including the verbal, critical reading, and math portions, and TOEFL prep.I attended Pitzer College, where I graduated with honors in Philosophy with a history minor. I am currently applying for MAT programs, with hopes of someday being a high school social studies and literature teacher.When I'm not helping students succeed, I enjoy the outdoors, including hiking, fishing, skiing, and backpacking through Oregon. I also enjoy playing sports, learning new languages, and playing the guitar.
