Experience
I am a Spanish language teacher. My experience extends to teaching Spanish to children, teens, and adults. I have more than ten years of Spanish language instruction experience as both a private tutor and a private school and language institute instructor. I believe that teaching any language is more than just imparting vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills to students. I strive to have my students master the language by giving them a deeper understanding of the language and its culture. I also teach English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL) and have gained certifications as a Bridge TEFL and ESL instructor. For both Spanish and ESL, I impart an understanding of writing and reading comprehension. I have assisted students with language test preparation and have personal experience with the AP Spanish exam and the SAT Spanish subject test. Language students have an ingrained fear of making mistakes as they learn to read, write, and speak a new language. I remove that fear by creating a relaxed environment in which my students can enjoy the language without feeling intimidated. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Linguistics from the University of Rochester, where I also worked as a language teaching assistant. I currently live in Merion Station, Pennsylvania, where I enjoy photography, yoga, cooking, and baking.
