Private tutor in Portland, OR

Portland State University - BA, English , University of Portland - MA, Teaching

I graduated from Portland State University with an English degree, and I received my master's in Teaching at the University of Portland. I have been a tutor for the past 3 years. It is my goal to provide my students with the support and encouragement that they need to find the answers on their own, as I believe this is the only way to truly learn the material. My first tutoring position was with elementary students in math, and I later became an educational aide. Since becoming a teacher, I have taught middle and high school students English language arts, and I am teaching at a STEM magnet program in Vancouver, where I also serve as their part-time librarian. I really enjoy helping students in any way that I can, from basic reading and writing skills, to helping with more difficult material. I offer tutoring in a number of courses, literature, math, English and social studies, and I'm available to help your student prep for standardized tests, such as HSPT, ISEE, and SAT. When I'm not teaching, I like to cook, write, read, take a hike, or go cycling.
