Education

Hello lovely tutor-seekers! As to the nitty gritty details of my accomplishments I can say that I've got a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Intercultural Studies (GPA 3.7). I studied abroad in Ecuador (definitely recommend it!), which gave me a superb language boost and a great conversational understanding of Spanish. On top of that, I have a classroom based education of its grammar, which includes four years of high school and four years of university. In university I took courses in Spanish grammar, Latin American history and culture, Spanish history and culture, World Religions, and Creative Writing.

Experience

I have helped tutor a native Spanish speaker with her college-level Communications course in English, and a 9 yr old with the basics of Spanish. I have helped tutor my friends in their Elementary Spanish college courses as well as my younger sister in her high school Spanish. Not only that, but I did after-school tutoring in high school for the younger grade levels. Cool stuff! I did translating work for the radio station at my university and have done interpreting for parent/teacher conferences, mission trip clinics, and simply casual interpretation for my friends in both Mexico and the US. In addition to Spanish I have a great aptitude for English and associated subjects like Vocabulary, Literature, Reading, and Writing. I have been writing creatively for about 10 years now and have had two of my poems published. I started a personal blog this year and the whole process has been thrilling! I frequently edited my college friends' papers and received flying colors in my college English courses. I am an avid reader, so I'm always keeping myself sharp. Let's help each other out! That's the way it should be! I do best in a one-on-one, or at least small group environment where each person can engage more deeply with the others. I enjoy passing on what I've learned not only because I LOVE these things, but because I have appreciated the help given to me and want to keep the love flowing.

Hobbies

In 8th grade I had my first poetry unit in English class and ever since have been writing writing writing! I write poetry and short stories, taking as many English and writing courses in high school as I could. Although I geared myself toward Spanish and Culture in university, I did take one Creative Writing course which was extremely beneficial for expanding my perspective and honing my writing. I often read in my spare time, especially in the good ol' outdoors. Nature and sustainable living is an active pursuit of mine and would love to integrate that into any tutoring I do if the interest is there. People have infinite value. Each person's story reflects that value, and I feel deeply honored to be a part of another person's story, allowing them to hone their skills and gain new ones. ***As of now my schedule is very flexible, but as things change I'll update my profile to reflect my availability. Thanks for understanding!
