Private tutor in Portland, OR
University of Oregon - BA, Accounting
I am a tutor who can help students overcome their struggles with math. I'm here to assist students with algebra, calculus, differential equations, elementary math, middle school math, trigonometry, economics, chemistry, and a variety of other subjects. I pursued my education at the University of Oregon where I received my degree. I've been tutoring students since I was in high school, and I've continued to do so in college. I've been passionate about helping others for as long as I can remember. Part of why I love tutoring so much is that I get to watch my students improve and develop confidence in their abilities. As a tutor I try to relate the mathematical principles I'm working on with a student to real world things that the student is more likely to understand. I've found this to be an effective approach when teaching math. I was once able to help a student of mine overcome her struggle with algebra by comparing how to solve algebraic equations to the act of applying eyeliner. After that she was able to successfully solve equations! I won't just tell my students all of the answers, but I will guide them to the solutions with tricks like this. In my free time I enjoy playing tennis and being active.
