I just earned my Masters degree in Teaching, with a specialty in Biology, from the University of Portland. In December 2014, I graduated a semester early with a Bachelor's in Human Biology from USC. I earned a 3.93 GPA while at USC, which allowed me to graduate with top summa cum laude honors. I also completed my graduate program with an A average. I am a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. I worked and volunteered regularly while in school.
Experience
As part of my Masters program, I've taken a full year of coursework in education and spent the school year working as a student teacher in a high school biology classroom. Before beginning the Master program, I worked abroad teaching English in Chile. Preceding this experience, I worked as a full-time tutor. I have experience with students of all ages in a wide range of subjects; from second grade math to middle school social studies to GRE prep with adults aiming to return to graduate school, I've tutored it all. When I was in school, I earned a 2350 on the SAT, with perfect scores on the reading and writing sections. I was a National Merit Scholar based on my performance on the PSAT. I also scored well on the GRE, and I am comfortable tutoring for any of these tests. I love all subjects in school, and have earned A's in college courses as diverse as biology, calculus, and writing. I can also help with study skills, test-taking skills, and organizational strategies, as these are some of my personal keys to success.
