- One year tutoring experience in local bay area schools at the middle and high school level "I am a great tutor based on my personal and professional experiences in the field of tutoring. I tutored for 45 hours in local high schools around the Bay Area through the organization 826 Valencia during my final year of college in San Francisco to complete my BA degree in English Education. My experience as a tutor at 826 Valencia allowed me to work closely with students to help them nurture their voices as creative writers. Volunteering at low income middle and high schools allowed me to spend time with students on a one-on-one basis and assist the teachers in communicating their goals. This experience also taught me the importance of authentic writing, humor and sincerity when working with students. I am strong at connecting students to the material they are studying and fostering in them an interest in a subject. My teaching style is personal and tailored to the needs and learning style of each student. In terms of my SAT scores to support my abilities, I received a 710 in reading and a 620 in writing, as well as a 590 in literature and a 600 in history. I also took and passed the NES Social Science test with a score of 251, speaking to my abilities to teach this subject. Furthermore, I have passed the ORELA (Oregon Educator Licensure Assessments) test with a score of 275 in English. I am available Saturdays and Sundays all day, and Tuesdays, Fridays and Wednesdays after 4 pm. "

I love reading and writing, watching movies and films, hiking, and animals and wildlife. I love to talk with kids about zoology if this is an interest they might have. I have a cat named Zucchini. I am a huge fan of trying new foods for the first time and exploring places around Portland in search of food. I originally hail from California and I love to travel there.
