Experience
I received my master's degree in education from the University of California. I have been teaching elementary students for several years, including a first grade class that was bilingual. Before teaching in the United States, I taught at an International School in Panama. In addition, I have spent many years tutoring students on an individual basis outside of a school setting. I am bilingual and speak both Spanish and English fluently. I am comfortable tutoring students in and subjects up to eighth grade and can tutor in either language. My goal is to help students master the academic skills they are currently struggling with, and gain confidence in their own academic abilities. Once students believe they are capable, they often have more success in school overall.Some of the specific courses I tutor include elementary math, Spanish 1-4, reading, writing, phonics, math, and English. I am also able to help students improve their study skills and organizational skills or to provide specific homework support.During my free time I enjoy learning sign language, traveling, scuba diving, cooking, knitting, reading, writing, hiking, and riding my bicycle.
