Private tutor in Portland, OR

Education

Studied with no degree at Tacoma Community College, Spokane Falls Community College, Whitworth University, BridgeTEFL, and now working towards my English degree at Portland Community College, with plans to move on to PSU next year. Second year English Major. I have my International Diploma in English Language Teaching, which allows me to teach in 12 countries around the world. That number raises to over 60 once I acquire my Bachelors degree.

Experience

Experience: -Tutored students in GED prep testing in the summer of 2013. -Spent a year in Chile and Peru teaching English as a foreign language as a private teacher in one on one environment. I teach because it is what comes naturally to me. I love to do it, and I price myself very low: having always equated merit with a completed college degree. I do have my International Diploma in English Language Teaching. I have always focused on literature and have studied American Literature extensively, through both my course work at Tacoma Community College, Spokane Falls Community College, Whitworth University, and now Portland Community College, as well as open course work from Yale. I have had several short stories published and am now looking to finish my book. My interest in Math has not transferred to college, and though I have a passion for learning and sharing it, anything more advanced than Algebra I do not feel competent enough to tutor in. After Algebra I maintained an interest in paradoxes and the history of mathematicians, but nothing structured enough to teach.

Hobbies

Reading just about anything I can get my hands on. I gravitate more towards autobiographies or memoirs. Non-Fiction interests me a great deal. I've also ran the gambit of many famous American and British novels. I recently went through all of Shakespeare's histories, bridging the gap of both my great loves. Besides that I thoroughly enjoy card games, have never found one I do not love to play and teach my friends. I also recently began baking. I started with simple bread and have gone from there. My roommates not having the appetite to eat everything, I will more than likely be bringing pastries over to share.
