I have a BA degree in Applied Linguistics and am working towards an MAT program now. I have teaching experience that is varied. I have helped ESL refugees and have also taught English to high school students while living and working in Japan. I have also served as a homeschooling teacher. I did this for 15 years, while teaching a Latin program at a local private school. I also have experience working as a reading and phonics teacher for individuals who are just starting to read. I want to help my students learn more, develop their own learning style, and to feel more confident in the classroom and when studying alone. I love to see the growth that students make when they improve their language and reading skills. I feel that my experience with learning Latin, French, and Ancient Greek, has helped me understand the problems that students face, especially when learning a new language. I tailor my teaching to the needs of each student and first need to understand their needs, goals, and their unique way of learning. When I'm not helping students with their learning, I like to bike, play piano, and hike. I also love to work on new soup recipes.
