Experience
I graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a bachelor's degree in astrophysics and minors in computer science and physics. Following graduation I hiked the length of the Pacific Crest Trail, which provided an extended time to learn much about my personal self and of the environment around us. I realized during those months that I truly wanted to make a difference and to apply my skills to their full potential. My long-term career goal is to be a professional programmer, and I also hold a great passion for teaching. While in college I held positions as a Teaching Assistant for a science course and as a Learning Assistant in an astronomy class. In both roles I worked closely with students in lecture settings as well as individual help sessions. I have extensive experience helping beginning programmers learn related subject matter. I strive to make my lessons effective by breaking down complex material and presenting them in tangible ways that facilitate productive learning. I look forward to bringing my skills to math and science tutoring roles. My hobbies and interests include hiking, cycling, programming, and playing guitar, mandolin, bass, and drums.
