Hobbies
Ximena is a native Spanish speaker born in Peru, she learned english at a young age by listening to music and watching her favorite cartoons and movies in their original language (english). In 2010 she got her BFA in Design and Art at Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru in Lima, where she worked over her summer breaks with young children teaching arts and crafts. She had the opportunity to work for Alegria Hope Through Art, a New York Non-Profit Organization, where she was a teacher and a translator. She moved to the U.S. in 2012 to obtain a Masters in Applied Craft and Design offered through Pacific Northwest of Art and the Oregon College of Art and Craft. After graduating she worked at OCAC’s Art Adventures as an art teacher and counselor for two consecutive years, she was also an Instructional Aid at Campfire Columbia during the school year. She loves being around children, going to concerts, taking pictures and think about non-traditional ways of interacting and mixing materials to create fun design and art objects. She currently works as a Spanish teacher at Abernethy School and at the Portland Early Learning Project.
