I have vast experience tutoring students in writing, and I can't wait to get back to working with students since taking short break to focus on my writing and editing career! I attended Brown University where I earned my bachelor's degree in Women's Studies/Literature. I then attended Mills College where I earned an MFA in English/Creative Writing. While attending Mills college, I tutored in the Writing Center and also taught English composition. Throughout my college years, I helped many of my fellow students with their writing. After earning my MFA, I began my writing and editing career. My career history gives me an edge as a tutor, because it involved working one-on-one with many clients. I have edited teaching materials, academic articles published in national journals, grant applications, and academic books. I also wrote scripted text for computer interactives, museum exhibit panels, advertising materials, and a children's novel about protecting the environment. I am now looking forward to tutoring again, and I can help students in any aspect of writing and/or reading, as well as Spanish. I became fluent in Spanish while living in Spain. I like to tutor by first creating a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Then, I determine where a student is having difficulty in a subject and help them overcome their challenge while helping them build their confidence.
