Education
At Kennesaw State University I did a Modern Language and Culture program with a primary focus on Spanish Literature, and a secondary focused on Mandarin Chinese and Japanese. While there, I also audited several classes in Eastern and Western Philosophy, Anthropology, and African and Native North American Art History. Most of my education has been self-taught. I am an avid reader and a big proponent of Coursera.org. I love to debate, and have spent hundreds of hours debating the smartest people I could find. I have a lot of practice editing other peoples writing, and in coaching people in developing writing and editing skills. I have experience both with non-native and native speakers.
Experience
Throughout my time in the university, I tutored many classmates as a way of making friends and developing my skills. I now feel that I have reached a level of effectiveness where I feel confident tutoring professionally. During my travels, I had extensive opportunity to help teach English to non-native speakers with differing levels of abilities. I am highly practiced in indentifying a students level of ability, modeling correct usage patterns, and restricting my vocabulary and grammar to the students level. I find teaching to be a highly rewarding activity. To me, there is nothing more satisfying than watching someone come to understand a concept that they used to find challenging. I hope to have the chance to help you find success and enjoyment in your studies.
