Experience
Previous science, reading, writing, and social studies tutoring experience. I especially love teaching and tutoring in science because when I was in middle and secondary school I didn't think I could "do" science, so working with students to help them discover their natural abilities there is a passion of mine. I also love teaching and tutoring in writing and literature since I was an English and journalism major before I became a science major and, eventually, a science teacher. I've taken many interdisciplinary classes (I'm a PhD student now in a highly interdisciplinary field) across the life, physical, and social sciences. I also have extensive experience creating, pilot testing, and teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) curriculum. I've also spent quite a bit of time mentoring students and helping them with college planning.

Hobbies
I love being outdoors, and frequently hike in the Columbia River Gorge-- anywhere with a waterfall is even better. I am a runner, a gardener, and plant medicine practitioner (herbalist), and also love riding horses. I play the piano and the guitar, and have always wanted to learn to play the violin. I love traveling, and lived abroad in Europe for 9 years. Currently, I'm dedicated to re-learn German (I was fluent when young), and have dreams of living abroad again in Germany or somewhere else in Europe within the next 10 years.
