I am currently working on my Master’s degree in TESOL and am looking for a way to help finance my studies. I take pride in working with international students because I have always been interested in foreign cultures, issues and languages. I have lived abroad in Peru, Ghana and Colombia for three years. I am fluent in conversational Spanish. I believe I relate well to my students, and that has helped me create a positive learning environment when in the classroom. I am a patient listener who can explain English grammar and vocabulary in clear and concise ways. I am a meticulous grader when it comes to reviewing written student work. It is important to me to develop a good rapport with students and make them feel confident and comfortable with their language skills! I want students to get the absolute best learning experience with me, and I work hard to ensure that’s the case! I am currently taking graduate level courses in English grammar and structure (TESL 544) and strategies for teaching English (TESL 545) at Concordia University in Portland. ELS Portland students have consistently rated me above the ELS national company average for instructor survey scores for nearly a year and half. In December of 2015, I was rated ‘Above Standard’ on my two most recent teaching observations by the ELS Academic Director. In October of 2015, I created and gave a presentation entitled ‘Empathizing with Student Needs to Find Creative Solutions’ to a group of 13 ESL instructors and administrative staff.
