Education

Lewis & Clark College 2016 International Affairs Major Ethnic Studies Minor

Experience

I have tutored high school students in the Portland area applying to college. Through this experience we worked extensively on writing application essays and contextualizing personal experience. I have two years of experience in teaching English as a Second Language both here and abroad. I have taken multiple education courses at Lewis & Clark which focus on pedagogy, including Education In A Complex World, Education & US Empire, and ReImagining Teaching/Learning. I have worked for a nonprofit in Vermont that required me to plan fun and educational activities to engage with all children. This experience helped me realize my interest in engaging with students to realize that learning extends far beyond the classroom. I was able to witness alternative pedagogy in my time studying education in Chile.

Hobbies

My favorite things are reading and hiking and social justice. My favorite book is The Little Prince, which I like to use to model my pedagogy with students and the way I approach my own life. I have been fortunate to travel throughout both Central and South America where I gained a love for speaking Spanish and cooking new foods!
